re: adults with SWCAH
Feb. 3rd, 2004   7:50am

I was diagnoised with swcah when  I was 10 days old. I have generally been healthy. When I did come down with a virus or running a fever my mediacation was always doubled. It did seem like I would feel more sick than my sisters would be with the same illness. As a child I would be on hydrocortisone 3x a day with the florinef.  As an adult I was put on prednisone 2x a day. I have a slight amount of osteopenia in my upper back, I know they would always  try to put me on the lowest dose of steroids but I’am sure that at time I was oversurpressed. I can recall be hospitalized only once when I was about 10 yrs old for about 5days probably due to some adrenal crisis.  Steroids were developed in the early 1950’s so I was lucky I was born in 1955 and much before that

Good luck  Jan B.
