Hi,

I really thing that the treatment can actually change the playing field where diet is concerned myself.  For instance a Type O may be rendered more a Type A if they have higher basal cortisol than they normally would have.  It changes your whole metabolism.  It affects the way you digest foods.  Foods are easiest to digest in the following order:

Carbohydrates/Protein/Fats

The higher your protein intake and fat intake, the slower the food transit through the bowel and the more slowly you digest food.  Type A’s typically have less stomach acid, so a high purine diet is very bad because it takes too long for them to get the nutrients from the foods and they can end up hypoglycemic and it affects the thydroid function a great deal.  When on oral steroid replacement obviously there is no way they can get the dose absolutely spot on and the higher the cortisol levels, the more acidic your blood will be.  In turn, when your 6-8 hours from having had replacement dose your blood I guess would be more alkaline.  The point is though, blood can be both too alkline and too acidic and so I guess for people on replacement steroids they need to make their meal times more regular and in synch with their medication times to get any degree of success.  I’d stay away from simple carbs right after doses of steroids if it where me after reading the book and other info about insulin resistance.  In fact it may be good to really only hit the simple carbs first thing when you have just got up and are a little low on them and thereafter eat more complex type vegies.

Keep protein and fat intake moderate and cut down on saturated fat.  i think bacon and eggs in the morning w/o carbs would be quite long in being digested and make your blood more acidic when you add the cortisol replacement to it.  I guess it takes a lot of experimentation with your beneficial foods (on that site I posted) to come to a compromise that makes you feel good.
