CAH Gathering
Feb. 5th, 2004   12:14am

I have begun to look into meeting places and hotels (for those of you who might want to stay over for the weekend) and the problem I am coming up against is how many people are we expecting to attend and when.  This would have a direct effect on the pricing possibilities.

For those who are on a tighter budget, or who want to extend their visit, there is also a wonderful campground just around the corner.  We live near a State Park that has waterfalls, fishing picnicking and hiking.  We are also right up the street from a small amusement park.  The owner is an acquaintance of mine and we may be able to work out a nice package there.

I’m thinking that after school is out is a good time for most people. If I remember correctly, last time we had decided that Connecticut seems to be a good compromise between NJ and NH/Vermont.  We would like to make it so as many people as possible can attend.

It is roughly 2 hours from my sister-in-law’s place in Pownal, VT and it is also a couple of hours from another friend of mine who lives in NJ.

Please keep in mind that EVERYONE is welcome and I will do everything I can to get a discounted price on a hotel rate or other accommodations.

So if I can get an approximate idea of who is interested in attending that would be great.

My 8 year old son Ryan is so excited about the prospect of meeting so many other children with CAH he can’t stop talking about it and the questions he would like to ask.

Rachael is his 9 year old sibling.  She  is a carrier of the Exon 7 strain (BTW, we are not of Jewish decent), and is also excited to meet other children who have taken on the responsibility of watching over their sibling(s) carefully and helping with some "distraction action" when it comes to the needles.  We can’t leave them out of the fun.  I know my daughter has been through some daunting experiences during her brother’s adrenal crisis’ and deserves, at the very least, an honorable mention (;>).

Please let me know as soon as possible either by posting here or by Email.  We look forward to hearing from you all and am open to any ideas and suggestions that you may have.

P.S.  We need to be mindful of the Magic Foundation’s Conference.  Anyone know when it is going to be held this year?
