Has anyone heard of Candidiasis?

Hello,

I posted a message on January 31, 2004 and wanted to thank the people that responded back.  I have had CAH all my life and it is just second nature to me.  I had the salt losing factor when I was born and the doctors put salt tablets in my back.

The reason why I am writing is that I came upon an interesting article in Women’s World (Feb 3, 2004) about Candidiasis..this is a total body infection caused by a type of yeast called candida.  It prevents the body from losing weight.  Our bodies kill off too much of the friendly bacteria that keeps candida in check.  Some common killers of friendly bacteria include cortisone, birth-control pills, estrogen replacement therapy, stree, caffeine and alcohol.  In oder to get this yeast out of our bodies we need to eliminate foods that yeast feeds on for at least three weeks, the yeast begins to die off and the friendly bacteria returns.  Some foods to avoid would be yeast-containing foods like bread and beer, mold-containing foods like blue cheese and wine, sweets, high- sugar fruits, and refined carbohydrates.  I have been eating plain yogurt every day and trying to avoid some of these foods but have not tried this for three weeks.  I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this because it sounds pretty interesting.  Thanks for reading and I will talk to you later
