I have experience with "normal" early puberty. My daughter went into puberty at 8 and got her period at 10 1/2. This was supposedly early normal and I didn’t do anything because that’s what my doctors told me to do. Now she’s 14 and she has something called PCO which is linked to early puberty. It’s really a pretty serious condition - I guess a lot of people with CAH get it too. She’s also 5’2" which is a perfectly nice height for a girl but she was supposed to be 5’7". Two pediatric endocrinologists told me for years that she was going to be 5’6" because her bone age was never advanced. But the minute she got her period, bingo, her bone plates closed and that was it. If a boy goes into puberty at 9, especially if his bone age is already advanced, his height will definitely be compromised. I don’t know if my son will be 5’2" like my daughter, or what, but I don’t think he will thank me for not trying to prevent that outcome. Lupron is supposed to be very safe and I don’t know how dangerous flooding a little body with all these "natural" hormones at a young age is either. It wasn’t good for my daughter. With boys there’s also more psychological effects - early puberty can make them aggressive and more likely to have ADHD. Look at the Puberty Forum online. Nine is normal because of some statistical thing - 95% of boys - blah, blah, blah. It doesn’t mean that it’s really OK.bonnie
