My son who is 9 (tomorrow) has been on the pill form of Cortef since 4 days old.  He has never chewed them.  Until he was off the bottle we crushed it and put it in his bottle.  Since off the bottle he has swallowed them.  We used to lay him on his back and drop it in the back of his trout and then give him a sippy cup to drink.  He never gave us trouble.  Infact sometimes he puts the pill in his mouth and forgets to have a drink ready and he tells me how terrible the pill taste as it melts.  He has never had any dental trouble.
