My daughter is 6 and a half. Funny you just posted this because my daughter had an appointment yesterday with her endo. for a check up. He suggested we cut her florinef to only one half a day.  Her renin level was 4 this past blood check. It has been pretty low for quite some time. We were giving her one half in the morning and the other half at night. Last night was our first time without it before bed. She went to kindergarten this morning and it was gym day. When I picked her up from school she complained about a head ache. This child rarely complains of a head ache. So I am wondering if it is the cut in florinef. You mentioned your son had headaches before you cut the florinef out. Did he experience any after you cut it out? I asked the ped. end. why her renin has been so low and he said she is probably taking in enough salt in her diet to curb this need for the florinef. What did they say to you? Also just to add her blood pressure was normal.
