re: girls stop growing earlier than boys

Hi Michelle,

Have you done a bone age recently?  Your daughter was very oversuppressed when she was first treated, so her bone age advancement probably slowed during that time.  My daughter’s bone age was advanced by 3 years at one point, but is now reading only 1 year ahead.

As I understand it, a girl’s active growth continues until bone age of about 14, but there is a bit of additional growth in the next year or so.  However, hand bones (which they x-ray) and long bones (legs, arms) can fuse at different times.  This was the case with my older daughter.  She still had a couple of inches of growth after a bone age reading of 14 years.
