Anne-MarieHmmm some of the water has been reconnected, they must have repaired some pipes, but there is brown silt in it. Don’t think I’ll be drinking that for a while. lol. We will be w/o water until well after the weekend. Not easy with five kids. :) I’m using about 60-80 litres a day of which most I have to collect from a tanker two blocks away. Injured my back lifting water into the pajero the other day and on NSAIDS for that. Still, atleast I can flush the toilet now with the water filling the cistern once again. Had more bad storms tonight with thundering, lightening and heavy rain so not really sure how that will be at 8am high tide or 2pm high tide. I don’t like this situation though and would not like to have an emergency at this point in time that’s for sure as ALL the emergency services seem to be pitched to evacuating families and are stretched anyway it seems. I hear sirens going off a lot the last few days anyway so assume that. I’ve stayed in and kept away from the centre of town due to there being sewerage floating around. It’s going to be a huge clean up when this is over.
I don’t think anyone appreciates how hard life is w/o clean water, or dirty water will do in my citern at the moment instead of having the currect siutation...if its brown flush it doen...if its mellow let it yellow.....lol, 6 lots of "yellow" in a day mellowing is pretty ewwww. lol. So I’m sorry but I have been collecting 10-15 litres for my toilet alone up to the water picking up in the pipes. Last night we nearly had 3 days worth of "toilet usage" on the floor as I flushed it thinking, "Hmmm bonus we have some water" and the cistern appeared full. The toilet started filling to the brim...lol...I had to plunge my loo brush down it and wiggle it round and it became unblocked just as the water started to rise level with the brim... *shudder* Could have been quite nasty! LOL. :)
Ill be glad when I get water back. I was right smack bang in the middle of kitchen renovations and was about to get flooring done but that’s had to be held off until the worst of t’s over and we have water again. So the kitchen has been ripped back to the guts and looks like an 100 yo kitchen at present and I feel like I’m back in the dark ages washing my tea towels by hand and wearing the same clothes ALL week and ONE shower this week only because we went to a friends in the main city (where their water supply is fine). SUX!!!
