re: sleep patterns

Hi Judy!  I’m no expert, but we definitely have a child who has had, and still does a bit -sleep issues.  Our son is 20mos old and has SWCAH.  I’m sure the medicine can effect sleep -some books on sleep I read even talked about cortisol levels during sleep...Howeever, having said that...our son’s meds were always right on as far as we know -growth & everything else has been right on.  So my advice would be to enjoy her -but I know that’s easier said then done.  Our son slept on my chest for the first 5 months of his life -waking every 1-2 hours to nurse.  then when I finally couldn’t take it anymore, we moved him into his crib where I slept on the floor the next month.  Finally -we took the road of letting him cry it out -it was miserable & he & I cried for 2 hours!!!! The first night!  But it got better & w/in a week he was sleeping by himself.  He went from waking about 8 times a night to just 1 or 2.  He’s gotten much better & often sleeps all night, but we are expecting baby #2 & know we’ll be having some issues. Our son is defintely spoiled, but who cares?  We’re the only ones that deal with it.  He’s not oboxious to anyone & is such a lovey, I would do it again in a heartbeat (but am hoping not to have to w/this next one)!  Sorry so long winded, I just want to tell you, it will get better for your daughter!!! I know how tired she is!!! The little one could just be so wired from being over-tired.  I see that now when our son misses a nap.  Best wishes!!! Enjoy her!!!
