Cassy WanstreetJudy,
I know exactly where you are coming from. I am the mom of twins, 15 months, both with SWCAH. I have posted at times about this very issue. Just the past month, I talked with our pediatrician and the endo at length about sleep. One of our daughters continued to wake several(6-7) times a night and was "wired" all day. I fought with her to nap and to go to sleep at night. The other twin sleeps well.
So, what I came up with--we made several changes. Not sure what did it, but something did. We had her levels checked and her 17-OH was way high, so we increased Cortef. Also, she has failure to thrive and was taking Pediasure as well as whole milk--we quit the Pediasure (too much sugar). Also, you will find posts about Magnesium deficiency--this will cause sleeplessness, we are going to have her tested for this next month. I refuse to let her cry it out, but I don’t jump at her every whimper. Also, I have been trying hard to not let her fall asleep with a bottle in her mouth. The ped said that if that was the only way she knew how to fall asleep, that is why she needed that at all hours of the night to go back to sleep. So I have been giving her a stuffed animal and trying to get her to go to sleep on the floor right after her bottle, but without it in her mouth.
I would be happy to swap stories and ideas with you. Please email me if you have questions. I know how trying it is to be sleep deprived. It is worse for us bc they sleep in the same room, so Kennedy usually wakes Carly up at night as well!!
