Judy WMy son has only been on the pill form of Cortef, since he was 4 days old. Our endo had us crush his pill and put it in his formula. We did this until he was about 9 - 10 months old. He was actually hospitalized at 4 days old for 1 week. Crushing it and putting it in his meds is how our Children’s hospital handled it. However, that being said.......... we only put it in 1 oz of formula and not an entire bottle for the very reason you mentioned. One oz ensured that he would drink it all.
Sonja, I am a bit curious.... what form does you son take his medication in, pill or liquid? If it is the liquid have you tried the pill? If it is the pill, is he chewing it? I ask because my son has swallowed his pill since about 9 - 10 months old. He has commented to me that sometimes he puts it in his month and forgets to grab something to drink with it and how terrible it tastes when it melts in his mouth. I would think that a spoonful of applesauce or yogurt would work. I used to give my grandmother her medication that way when she couldn’t swallow her meds.
