Hi there,

They do CVS right at about 10 weeks, but your OB will do an ultrasound before they do the CVS to determine where the placenta lies, and if they can do it at that time.

I had the CVS done on Feb 19, and on Feb 23 we learned the baby was a boy. I think it depends a lot on the lab they use. I’ve heard that it can take as little as 24-48 hours to find out the sex.

As far as finding out if the fetus is affected, that takes about 3-4 weeks. They have to grow the specimen in their lab and then send it out to Cornel in NY.
