Hello-

I have seen a Endo doctor out at Mayo Clinic and another Endo doctor at St.Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.  Both Endo doctors have said the same thing to me on splitting up my 30mg of cortef per day.  They both said to take 20mg between 4AM and 6AM and then take the other 10mg by mid afternoon (around 2PM).  They also told me that the adrenal glands shut down around 8PM daily.  When my body gets stressed by sickness, I was told by the same Endo doctors to increase (double) my daily dosage for three days and then go back to my regular dosage after three days.  This reduces the chances of going into adrenal shock.  Even though this works for me, I highly recommend checking with your Endo doctor to see what he/she says is best for your system because everybody is different and their bodies react differently to certain stress levels and different kinds of sicknesses.
