hi there! i am so glad you asked this!! my son (swcah) is 3 months old and we have already had bilat. ear infections (went lethargic and off to ER) and a wicked stomach bug (in hosp. for 3 days). however, in my OPINION none of this has anything to do with him having cah. cassy is totally right, these are just replacement doses and SHOULD not produce any of the immune supression of cortisol in other people. i am not sure if this is your 1st child or not. i have 2 girls (4yr. and 2yr) who are NOT cah’ers. my 4 year old, i swear to you, was sick ALL the time. never in daycare in her life. to the point that we had to see a pediatric infectious disease specialist. at 2 1/2 yrs old, she became fine. just getting sick the normal 3 or so times per year like most kids. she had tubes in her ears by 6 months,  salmonella poisoning, febrile seizures, influenza with a fever for 8 straight days, RSV, you name it, the kid got it. it was awful. now, my 2 year old has been sick 4 times in her LIFE!!!!  never an ear infection. maybe has run a fever twice in her life. no difference in the way the two girls were raised at all. both always bottle fed. i totally agree, some kids are just sicker than others. i am attributing our latest illnesses to 2 things:  my son was born in dec. (the dead of winter) and he has 2 older sisters, both in preschool 3 days per week. of course, i could be wrong. but, i had an extensive conversation with our ped endo about this and in his 20 years experience with kids with cah, he said that some are sick with normal childhood stuff all the time and some are not, just like the general pediatric population. hope your little one feels better soon!!!  i would definitely not shelter them any more than the usual things every parent should do: good handwashing, good meals, etc.
