Diabetic pumps can as far as I understand it read blood sugars, and you program what you eat and it releases the amount of insulin needed.  We all know that there is no instant test to read 17 OHP or cortisol - this is also something we need - imagine being able to use a reader like the diabetics do!  I have asked many of these questions, if they could build this into a pump.  I believe the insulin does not stick to the pipe either.  Diabetics have no option really but to inject - with CAH we do have the option to take tablets.  Many times on this board people have said how their children don’t want to be different, wearing a pump would make them.  Also imagine the cost, how many insurances would fund this when there was a cheaper way?  Each pump costs thousands of pounds.  Also if sick, you would have to still inject and perhaps revert to taking tablets, double dose etc.  HOWEVER what I would really like to see (amongst loads of things) is an epi pen that could administer h/c not only our children but everyone with CAH, all would benefit from this, they are so easy to use and not painful. I as a parent of a teenager would feel so much better if my son carried one. Children could be taught to use them and it would make dealing with a crisis far easier!
