The pump I have seen does not take your blood sugar.  You still have to do that manually but you can administer insulin much more readily and in smaller doses.  My friend ate a miniature snickers then pulled her pump out (you couldn’t see it otherwise) and dialed in how much insulin that snickers was worth and presto she got precisely what she needed to eat that treat.  There is a chart for food and how much insulin is needed for what.  Julia
