Cortisone Stim test
Apr. 2nd, 2004   8:28am

My son recently had the ACTH test done on Wednesday.  He tolerated the blood draws very well, they just had trouble finding a site, since all of his are now blown.  Once the IV site was in they drew blood then injected him with cortisone.  Then one hour later they drew more blood and we were on our way.  Oh, by the way, it is very difficult to take a 22 month old to her brother’s Dr. appt, what can I say, I thought I’d give it a try.  He was very tired the rest of the day.  Then yesterday he was back to normal.  I have some questions though, I think because he has a deficeny in the 11-betahydroxylase, we still don’t have a confirmed dx, and the endo wants to do further genetic testing.  But he is being treated like a CAHer and it appears to be effective, what else could it be?

Now here for my next question...(please answer yes PLEASE)

Has any of your children ever qualified for in home nursing care?

I have to go back to work in 10 days and I have the paperwork going on, a nurse visited the house and she felt he would probably qualify, but my endo’s nurse said "I don’t mean to burst your bubble, but in my 14 years of experience in this, I don’t know of a kid with CAH qualifing for in home care!"

Needless to say she did burst my bubble...I hope someone can help me with this.  I had planned on taking him to the daycare where my daughter goes.  They were a little leary about taking him with all of his meds.  And I have to call them today to tell them about his possible need for an injection. I don’t know if they will take him!

Any input would be great!

Thanks
