SandraMy son’s mother’s day out program, 2 days a week for 5 hours, had no problem taking my 2 1/2 yr old son. I showed the director how to use the shot in case of emergency. I left some cortef also for emergency but I give him his cortef early in the am, when he gets home from school and very late at night. It works out well. He has never, so far, needed a shot and never come close to a crisis. I contacted the local EMS and they carry the dex in shot form. My endo gave me the dose amount to give to the EMS in case they respond to a call for my son. They are actually writing a protocol on CAH for the local EMS stations.
I really doubt that nursing care will be approved for your son and I personally, don’t think it’s necessary. If your school has ever taken anyone with food allergies or asthma, they should have no problem taking your son. I would just talk to them about possible emergency situations and also contact your local EMS and tell them about your sons condition. They can put a note on your number and possible put some kind of cross reference on him too.
Good luck,
Sandra
