Using hydrocortisone suppositories in lieu of injection.
Apr. 8th, 2004   7:45pm

Suppositories have been our only emergency dose in the 3.5 yrs since our son was diagnosed with SWCAH as a 10 day old. They work fine, the only discomfort being the coldness when given straight from the fridge. We had one episode where we gave this dose in an emegency and drove to the hospital, alerting them to his impending arrival. By the time we got there, c. 40 mins., he had turned from a really sick sweaty lethargic lump that we hoped would make it as far as the ER, to an almost bright eyed and smiling boy.
