re: High Renin Level

Hi Heather,

I can’t remember whether Kaden is a SW or a Non-Salt waster.

However what I have found with myself as a SV CAH, is that we seem to have what is called sub-clinical salt loss - ie. below the level of detection on blood screening - so the sodium levels remain mostly in range but the Renin’s seem to become elevated to try and compensate, to keep them in range. That is what seems to happen to me anyway.

If she is a Salt-Waster then I can’t explain, apart from the fact she may need a little more Florinef. It is possible a similar process is in place, as I mentioned in the above scenario for SV’s but with the addition that they take Florinef.

As for what it does to you I’m not sure, but elevated Renins can cause a rise in blood pressure, particularly in non-CAH people.

I’m not thinking too well at present but hope this helps a bit.

Megan

PS. What were the units of measurement used in the Renin test?
