high blood pressure and stress dosing
Apr. 15th, 2004   7:27pm

We just came from the pediatrician where my daughter’s nose burst out bleeding (thankfully we were there!) and when they took her blood pressure it was very high. The pediatrician thinks it is because she was on a stress dose of cortef (15mg three times per day) due to an infection. So now she is backing her off the stress dose and has put her on augmentin. All of this is so upsetting. I guess I do not have the experience yet to handle the ups and downs that go along with having this rotten condition. I still feel like it’s my fault, like I should have know I was a carrier (the is NO family history that we know of), but it is so easy to blame myself for her suffering. She also just doesn’t seem to be responding to the cortef, she still is growing off the charts and she is in stage 3 puberty at age 8. The pediatrician suggests we consider Lupron shots, but my point is that it won’t stop her rapid growth and it also probably won’t buy her any height, so why torture the poor kid for the next 4 years? I am so frustrated I could just scream. We see our endo the end of the month, and he is a sweet middle eastern man that just doesn’t deal well with freaked out mothers who are stressing over this stuff. He says she is on the correct dose and that her levels are coming down, but I don’t see any improvements, only complications. Uggggh. Any comments are appreciated.
