KayI know it would be hard, but I would really try to find another endo and/or pediatrician. I have never heard of treating with an extended stress dose either - and we have been dealing with CAH for over 12 years now. Unless the fever is high, we don’t use a stress dose at all. Having lived with sinus infections and ear infections myself (and my daughter), I can’t imagine how they thought it would clear up with antibiotics!
As important as a good endo is, a good pediatrician is euqally important - sometimes more so since you tend to see them more often. I questioned all the drs in my daughter’s group to find out their knowledge of CAH. One of the drs knew a lot and started questioning me about how we handled certain situations. We try to see him for most visits. He has a good feel for when a stress dose is necessary, and while I don’t feel that I necessarily need that help from him now, there was a time when I did - and he always takes my daughter’s CAH into consideration when prescribing treatment of any kind.
Now, as for the Lupron. If your daughter is in puberty and her bone age is advanced, you can stop that rapid advancement with Lupron and buy her additional years of growth. We had my daughter on Lupron from the age of 5 until she was 12 or 13. It worked very well for her. The rapid advancement of bone age was stopped/slowed down immediately and she continued to grow. She is now 5’3" tall and without Lupron I doubt that she would have made 4’10". We had no side effects from the Lupron except a little redness at the injection site and soreness for a day or two. That may be just normal for receiving any shot. At any rate, I would check it out.
Good luck and keep us posted.
