I have a lot of flank pain once a month along with my inflammatory type endo symptoms. I had a pelvic scan last week and it was ultrasound. They were able to check kidneys, ovaries and uterus and say they were normal. I’d say things like tumors or growths could be shown on scan but from what my Gynea told me ysterday there are things they cannot pick up with scanning that need exploratory examination such as laparoscopy. Things like endometriosis lesions and pelvic congestion would not show on a scan. The latter would if they injected dye into your blood and scanned you pelvis. I was told that women who have a lot of stress and then pelvic problems have recently been found to have cases of pelvic congestion which is veins and arteries in the pelvis being enlarged and congested like varicose veins. This was just one of the remaining possibilities besides endometriosis that we are looking at now with regards to my recent problems as pelvic ultrasound has thrown up nothing. The cyst that was on my left ovary six months ago has regressed. I would say it is the vitex and the progesterone cream that have helped so I’ll continue those treatments as the other alternative is estrogen blockers or provera or mirena device and I wont use synthetic progestins due to them causing chronic depression for me.Anne-Marie
