re: Flank pain

I’ve had constant right sided flank pain for almost five weeks now. Most of the time it is a dull, ever-present ache. Other times it’s like something, in the right flank region, is being squeezed or clenched tightly, other times it’s a burning pain and also occasionally sharp.

When the doctor pushed and poked there yesterday, I nearly went ’through the roof’ at one point - it was very painful. Most doctors assume that flank pain is due to a kidney problem, (I have no other kidney symptoms) - so when he said that he would order an U/S scan, I asked him to include adrenals in the visualising range - which he complied with; although I have heard (rightly or wrongly), that adrenals are not that easy to see with plain U/S’s.

Thanks for the feedback. If the pain continues and the U/S shows nothing, I may push for a CT scan.
