GretchenKatrina,
First of all, congrats on your second pregnancy! Last year I too did CVS. The procedure, as far as I remember, was that Cornell first used samples of my blood and my husband’s blood to determine the exact mutations each of us are carrying. Then they took the placental material from the CVS and compared it to those results...looking for the same mutations. In my husband and my case, we are carriers of different mutations. Their combination, however, results in CAH. Cornell needs to know what mutations they are looking for before they can run the test on the placenta. Hope that helps!
Gretchen
P.S. Also, be prepared to wait a while for the results as it sometimes takes them over a month to work up everything.
