LisaI had both of my daughters tested for locah last month. My 6 month old son has cah. Both tests came back negative based on their acth stim. test results. Yesterday I noticed pubic hair growth on my 9 year 2 month old daughter. I was originally concerned about her having cah b/c of her size (she is the tallest 3rd grader - including the boys some of which are almost a year older than she) and b/c sometimes she has body odor. She also wears a size 81/2 ladies shoe. I went through puberty late (13 years old when started period) so 9 years old seems very early to me. Does anyone know "on average" how long after the first puberty signs does menstruation typically begin? Do girls stop growing soon after puberty??? Although she is very tall for her age I of course hope she is not going to stop growing in the next couple of years. Her father is 6’2 and I am 5’9 so we always assumed she would be on the taller side.
I am just wanting to make sure that the test is accurate. Could she test negative now and then positive in a couple of years or would it definitely show up now?? Does anybody know what is a normal baseline17ohp and then a normal stimulated 17ohp? Her baseline 17ohp was 41ng/dl and the stimulated 17ohp was 627 ng/dl.
My 7 year old daughters baseline17ohp was 72ng/dl then stimulated was 1020 ng/dl. Graphed on the nomogram she came out right at the top of the heterozygote range.
If anyone knows how much these are supposed to increase with stimulation in a non-cah affected person I would appreciate your input.
I would like to put this to bed once and for all if at all possible.
Thanks in advance for any knowledge you wonderful people are willing to share.
Lisa
