BraydensmomRobert,
My son was born at 30 weeks too. ( He was 2 pound 12 ounces and 15 inches long)
The newborn screening in our state alerted us to his CAH. We would not have known of the CAH til... who knows when.. had it not been for the screening. Even with the screening it was weeks before we knew and weeks more til he was treated with meds. There WERE visual signs that were much more subtle than a girl with CAH would have; several doctors noted with curiosity his darker than usual pubic area and darker than normal nipple area. We shrugged it off as simply different at the time. As an extremely premature infant he had some ups and downs anyway and of course he remained in the hospital with 24 hour monitering for many weeks. As a tiny baby he was tested more frequently than now. The prematurity put a twist into the game plan but it was manageable. He was tested again to confirm the CAH when he was roughly 6 months old. Genetically it was easy enough to "prove" as he is the 21 OH variety. <smile>
Will you update us on your daughter? I’ve been told that premature girls do VERY well.
By the way.... my tiny little 30 weeker is now a strong 7 year old, 70 pounds... and VERY bright ( top in his class -- brag brag) . No signs of any delays.
GOOD LUCK !! CONGRATS !!!
Susan
