I wanted to know why I have not heard of many endo.s pushing calcium supplements? Has anyone out there had this issue addressed seriously by their endo. or their child’s endo.? Or making the patients aware of the bone loss that comes with steriods from day one.  I think I am going to start promoting this with my daughter’s endo. I have heard so much about bone loss with steriods. My mom who is on many steriods for her emphysema, has been diagnosed with osteoporosis. Granted, she is in her early 60’s and smoking does contribute to bone loss. BUT, she twisted her leg on a crack in the driveway this past November and her bones snapped in two before she hit the ground. As she hit the ground, they shattered. She literally had to regrow a part of her leg bone attached to a metal rod. She is a tiny person too. I think there should be more emphasis on calcium supplements or as Jeff said, getting the right amount in your diet via food for our children and adults that are on these medications for CAH.
