Jessica Krob,
first CONGRATULATIONS on your niece!!!!! I have a 5month old daughter with salt wasting CAH...Born with ambigious genitalia. We were first told "It’s a BOY! oh wait...um, we are not sure if the baby is a boy or girl" It was confussing, scary & lonely at first.
The baby will go on medication like Julia stated & those first few weeks will fly by with doctor apointments to check on her levels, her weight & just her general "newborn" issues. It’s a lot to take, but you learn real fast that this wonderful child is just that. a wonderful new addition..yeah there are issues to be addressed but to tell you the truth my daughters CAH is no longer the first thing I think of when I look at her. I see a little bundle of energy trying to crawl way to early for me!
This site is amazing, you don’t feel so alone anymore. If your sister wishes to talk to a mom who has been there a short time ago, e-mail me & I would love to be there to help her with this.. rn4kidz@hotmail.com
