Drinking A LOT of water!
May. 13th, 2004   7:45am

My daughter has the 21 hydroxylase type of CAH (salt waster) She a month away from being 7 years old. In the winter her endo. decided to cut her Florinef in half because of her high renin levels.

She also had a small decline of her Cortef. My conclusion to that was that she was on an inhaled steroid for her new found mild asthma, that through her levels off, sending her into OVER suppression. Well we decided to cut back on that inhaled steroid for various reasons. I have not had her levels checked since.

I KNOW these children cannot tolerate summer heat. My daughter NEVER could. And has always drank a lot of water when hot.  It has been quite unseasonable lately here in Ohio. (no complaints here) She has been drinking more water than the usual. She drank gallons yesterday. She wasn’t exercising either. You would think if she was running and sweating. Both my husband and I noticed this.

My question is: Do you think she needs more Florinef now that it is summer? I am certainly checking in with her endo. but always like to get opinions here to work with. I am not sure if she is undersupressed now that we decreased that other inhaled steriod or what. But I was really wondering if this is a Florinef issue. Thanks!
