re: Drinking A LOT of water!

I think that a few kids can become susceptible to asthma when they are under treated Laura.  Ashley did.  When his cortisol doses are adequate he does not have asthma.  Hope that helps.

I cant see that the dose for florinef would change for summer or winter.  It doesn’t here and we do fine.  If she is always thirsty thats a good sign the dose is ok because Ashley doesnt have a thirst at all when he is lacking florinef.  It’s the actual drug that gives you the thirst.  Your body will only hold as much as the dose dictates.  So the florinef will be what is giving her the thirst.  Remember, when the body is short on fluid, only then is aldosterone released and  is after that, that they get the thirst,  not the other way around.  If your body doesnt make aldosterone, you dont thirst for fluids.  Taking the florinef just replaces the hormone.  So in other words if your daughter has a thirst it is healthy and just a sign that she needs fluids---and that she is losing a lot in perspiration thats all--and needs to replace orally.  Thats why these kids dont drink when they are sick, until you get the meds down them.
