Michelle RMilton, can I ask how much Prednisone you take? I can completely understand where you are coming from. I have been through my share of steroid induced depressions and it usually happened when I was OVERSUPRESSED. Usually if we are on a good replacement dose we won’t suffer the depression. Actually it’s good this doc even wants to admit the connection between depression and steroids, cause ya know....a lot of them won’t.
I think that out of the antidepressants, efexxor might be one of the better ones. I think it’s not suppose to make you gain weight but many have said it speeds them up and they don’t overeat like on the other antidepressants. I can’t take any of them, they all make me worse. But I am assuming that was because the steroid was actually causing my problem. My sadness had no logic to it, it felt like I had a magnet under my feet pulling all of the happy out of me. That was a few years ago when I was on too much Dex. 7 years of too much Dex, 7 years of depression and nothing made it better till I lowered my dose. I’m not saying that it your case but it is something to look at.
Hopefully there is a better way to fix this, than more drugs to take everyday. Please post your dose, thanks and good luck, Michelle
