Chris DOh, I know how hard it is! My son was 21lb 7 oz at 4 months old. No typo there!
We have always battled his weight. He did slim down quite a bit when he started crawling and walking. He was about 24 pounds at a year and a little over 26 pounds at 18 months. He has pretty consistently stayed near the 75% for height all along.
Just as others have said, the finger pointing begins (and always at mom) as soon as they are toddlers. It can be very difficult. I just keep reminding myself that I am doing everything I can to give him healthy foods, teach him about nutrition, and keep him from developing food disorders/issues. I too have met with a nutritionist. All she offered was to feed him beef jerky (no lie - long story)
He is almost 6 now. We still battle weight. My theory is that he is predisposed to weight gain - his dad is stocky and has to watch it or he gains weight easily. The predispositon combines with the steroids for a double whammy. He eats healthier than other kids but puts on weight much more easily.
When he wsa 4 1/4 we switched to circadian rythym dosing. It has helped a lot. His appetite is much less and he seems to not gain as easily. I know this method isn’t for everyone, and isn’t necessary for everyone, but for us it has been great. Before starting circadian rythym dosing he went from 51 pounds to 70 pounds in one year. Since starting the new dosing he gained only 10 pounds this year. (still too much i know, but it has been cut nearly in half from the previous year)
Sorry - baby crying - got to go
