Chris DI forgot to mention physical activity. My son has always been very active. He isn’t really into organized sports, but he loves running around, playing tag and other games, playing at parks and on playgrounds, riding his bike or scooter etc etc.
He has also been pretty well controlled. Although we had some periods of oversuppression, especially when he was younger.
It seems too big of a coincidence to me that many with CAH battle either too much weight or too little height. I truly believe the steroids affect everyone differently, some have no issues, others have a hard time gaining height, and some have too easy of a time gaining weight.
My son’s ped. gave me some great advice. She recommended focusing on teaching him to have a healthy lifestyle (healthy food, lots of activity). Once he is through puberty he will have more flexibility with his meds and a better chance of finding what meds and doses work for him.
