re: longterm steroid use & tendonitis, artritis & other joint-related issues

Hi Eric

Hope your injuries have started to heal by now. I have suffered from arthritis for a while now (a number of years)but of course the steroids do "mask" these problems and the pain from them. Prednisone and dexamethasone are anti-inflamatories.  My problems were highlighted when I changed from Prednisone to Hysone - had a lot of problems including having to have a fusion of my right ankle which was in plaster for 3 months (done July 2003) and I have to have my left ankle done in July 2004 (will be in plaster for 3 months) due to arthritis. My medical team all believe that it is due to the longterm steroid use but what the heck I’m still here even if I do have some problems getting around.

Hope this helps Eric
