jennyHi Janet,
Cody is 7yrs old SWCAH. He just finished the 1st grade! Before school started they had a day to meet with the teachers. I had a letter from Cody’s endo. I laminated the letter and took it to school. I talked with the principal, nurse and all his teachers. Each one had a letter. The letter had all the info on signs of adrenal crisis, what to do, medicine procedures etc. In the beginning I tried to give Cody is afternoon dose at home of the cortef but found out I had to have the school nurse give it to him. She did everyday on schedule. I gave her a supply plus the solu-cortef. Cody would bring the bottle home when she got low and I would send a refill to school. THey were so wonderful. They worked with me on everything!!! The school nurse made sure he got plenty of fluids. Cody’s teacher is a diabetic and she also wore a bracelet that was so helpful. He also wore a sportband or sometype of medical id jewelry everyday. He also rode the bus and the bus driver got all the info. He sat up front right by the driver. They all know Cody real well now!!!! I have a website that I sell medical ID jewelry. www.codycaresid.com A portion of all profits goes to the Cares Foundaton. I have 2 types of wristbands. Cody loves them! Take a look. I hope she has a wonderful school year!
