ElizabethI am having a little girl and have just recently gotten off the Dex so I can’t answer some of your questions but I’ll do what I can! We got the results back from Cornell that we are having a little girl that will be a carrier for CAH but will not be affected with it. My docs have begun to wean me off the dex but I do belive that they weaned me too quickly and I had a horrible reaction to the sudden drop in dosing, but my husband and I are working with that and it has really leveled off as far as headaches adn fatigue. Jane mentioned below about her insomnia so I did want to address that as well - at first probably during the first week I did have insomnia but then I started taking my last dose as I was sitting in bed just getting ready to get under the covers an dthat seemed to work . . .but agreed the insomnia was hard to take.
I have heard of several couples who did still opt to have surgery for their little girls even after taking dex but for the most part it seems to at least lessened the virilization in their second child - SOME of the ones that still opted for surgery freely admitted that they did not follow the dosing as closely as they could have as well . . .
Okay my little one calls so I need to run. . . if oyu think of anything else. . .OH, I was handled by a high riskOB but they worked hand and hand with Cornell as far as the dosing went.
