My sister-in-law just gave birth to a baby girl on 5-28-04. She has ambiguous genatalia and her blood sugar levels are not stable. The doctor believes that she has CAH.  They are waiting on the blood test results. In the meantime they are not letting her take the baby home. They are saying that she will have to stay for at least 7 days or maybe even longer. Is this common? Why can’t she take her baby home and just bring her back for any other test or treatments? I don’t think they have had many cases of CAH here.  Any advice anyone can give would be appreciated.    Thank you.
