This is absolutely common.  When a baby is born and they think that he/she might have CAH no one can really tell what form of CAH they might have (Salt wasting vs non salt wasting) or how soon it will show itself.  Some testing won’t be back for weeks yet. . . my daughter was thought to not be salt wasting and they sent us home because they felt bad about keeping us in the hospital for so long. . . 3 weeks later we were rushing to have her admitted because she was in adrenal crisis due to dehydration and lack of salt. . . I wish they had just kept us I never want to have to see my daughter like that again.  By keepingher in the hospital they are able to run blood work and are able to tell if her sodium is going haywire or not. . .I know for them and probably you too this is all overwwhleming but I can tell you from experience that all of this just become second nature after a while.  My daughter is beautiful and smart and as healthy as a horse!  At her last check up our ped asked if we were taking her somewhere else for illness and just coming to see her for checkups!  We told her that she was just never sick!  She has been such a blessing to ourlives...
