hi there!! jessica, i just wanted to let you know that your "low down" on what to do in case of fever and or vomiting is EXACTLY what our endo has said.  for example, my son (5 month old swcah) is getting over both a stomach virus with an ear infection on top of it. he would throw up, then a few hours later tolerate 1/2 strength formula, then a few hours later throw up. there was NO crisis involved, here. i did stress dose him orally and i felt confident that the meds were staying down for at least 45 minutes after i gave them to him. i never gave the shot nor went to the ER. he was irritable naturally, but never lethargic or "acting funny." however, once when he was 2 months old he got a very nasty stomach bug from his preschool age sister. he got very pale and lethargic. i DID give him the shot and went to the ER that time. he was admitted for 3 days, but recovered nicely. in my opinion, if a parent feels more comfortable going to the ER, then they definitely should go. having been through a crisis that time when he was 2 months, i am very hesitant to go to the hospital unless i see signs of lethargy or repeated, continous vomiting and diarrhea. also, i guess if he had a super high fever with lethargy, i would probably give the shot and then see how he responded. i dont know why i am giving such a long response. anyway, i agree with your take on this:)
