Broken bones

Does anyone know how long a child can last without emergency injection if they break a bone?  Are we talking hours or minutes before a crisis occurs without the injection?  I often wonder about this because my 7 year old has an emergency injection for school but the school will not give the shots even in emergency, but will phone for an ambulance to come and do it in an emergency situation.  This obviously takes time for the ambulance to arrive.  Hopefully this will never happen but it is a question I have always wondered about.  Thanks!
