JudyWI know that this is very scary for you so my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. But I have to ask does height run in your family? My non-CAH daughter will be 12 in November she is only 52 inches and 62 lbs. My SWCAH son who was 9 in Feb is 2 inches taller than her and weighs 90 lbs. My daughter was only 18 lbs at 18 months old. To be honest I don’t remember her hight but (I think she was right around your son). I can tell you she has always barely been on the charts for height and weight. Both my mother and mother in law are short so I guess she will just be like them. I’m average at 5 3/2 and my husband is only 5- 10. Believe me I’m not trying to belittle your feelings in any way but genetics do still play a factor in their growth and it’s not all related to the CAH. I don’t know anyone with CAH that has taken the growth hormone but I did work with a guy for years who’s son did. Both he and his wife were extremely short and had a tough time as children and didn’t want their son to deal with some of the issues they did. When he began complaining to them about being short they pursued it. I remember things going very well for them. If memory serves me correctly I also read (years ago) in the Magic Foundation newsletter about a CAH patient who took growth hormone injections. You may want to see if they have any archives that you can search through.
Best of luck with whatever you decide. Please keep us posted.
