Mary Ann,

Your son will pass on the CAH gene to all of his offspring -- this is true. However, unless they recieve a CAH gene from their mother, then they will only be a CAH carrier. To have CAH you must recieve the CAH gene from both parents.

My understanding that having normal electolytes is just an indication that your son is not a salt waster.

What type of CAH deficiency does your son have -- 21-hydroxylase, 11-beta, etc? How are these numbers?

I gather that your son is not being treated for CAH. Do you know why?  I do know of children who have started puberty at age 2.

Just based on the little bit you shared, I would get a second opinion, and fast.  If you need assistance in finding a ped endo who knows how to treat CAH, you can contact Kelly at CARES  -- www.caresfoundation.org

Hopefully some others will be able to provide some additional information for you.

Janet
