I have also heard about waiting for surgery until the child is older to decide.  I’m now feeling uneasy when I hear of the latest "thing to do" is to wait because my daughter (now 7) had the surgery at 19 mths and again around 22 mths because the surgeon hadn’t taken enough off.  I’m now wondering if I’ve done the wrong thing and should have waited but the option in those days was to have the surgery young.   In fact, one mum thought she was late having it done as her daughter was only 5 months old when hers was done (her girl is now 13).  That was the advice given and we just went along with it.  Because she had surgery twice, I’ve also got the worry of her not having sensation there when she’s older.
