My 15 mo. old daughter w/SWCAH had her surgery when she was approximately 5 months old.  She had absolutely no problems - in fact I was probably in worse shape because, like you, I was also very worried!  We actually got to come home from the hospital the same day. 

As far as the controversy goes, my husband and I struggled with this, also.  We spent quite a bit of time researching and dicussing what to do.  We did not take this decision lightly.  But, in the end, we took all the information that we had and made the decision to go ahead with the surgery.  Whether that was right or wrong, we may not know until later in my daughter’s life.  However, we feel that our decision was made in the best interest of our daughter.
