Betsy driverClitoral surgery is unnecessary and cosmetic. No matter how it is justified---whether it is "didn’t take enough off", or saying that techniques have improved, or that sensation will be ’ok’ once she and her husband (and what if it isn’t a husband but another woman?) get the ’rhythm down’ still ignores the fact that this surgery is totally unnecessary. Fewer doctors are doing it because the fact-based evidence indicates it serves no benefit to the person having it done and in fact can cause sensation loss and painful scarring.
While there have been a recent onslaught of medical journal articles stating this, there has yet to be one indicating that surgery is good for the person. If you are interested in seeing some of these articles, drop me a note and I can provide you a link to find them. Or even better, ask the surgeon for the studies he justifies his willingness to do these surgeries on which indicate good results on the issues that matter---namely, sensation and satisfaction with results by the person who had their genitals surgically altered for cosmetic purposes. He or she will be unable to provide them because they don’t exist.
