LizHi Heather!
I can really understand your situation. My daughter is now 7 with SWCAH and has always been a good (too good!) eater. I never had any trouble with her finishing her meals, even from a baby she would guzzle up all her milk! She would always be the first to finish her food at birthday parties, restaurants, etc, and friends would say how envious they were of her as they had to force their kids to eat! However, I am constantly worried about her weight which is just a bit over what the average is. She doesn’t look fat but she does look more chunky than her skinny friends. She has quite muscular legs too but I don’t know if this is from her medication or not. People say not to worry as she’s not fat but I know she will get bigger as she grows older as her appetite is so great. I try to be strict with her snacks but find it increasingly difficult as she makes me feel so bad when I say no. It makes it doubly hard as her little brother (non CAH) is an extremely fussy eater and hardly eats anything. He is underweight so when he asks for an extra biscuit, etc, I will say yes to him as he needs to put on weight, but then I feel awful when she asks for an extra one and I have to say no.
She does favour salty chips which are fattening, but having said that, she will be happy with any food! Obviously on the one hand, she has been so easy to feed whereas I have terrible battles with my son trying to get him to eat anything.
Perhaps you could put a fridge lock on the fridge or maybe move stuff higher up so your daughter can’t reach them?
I wonder if this is a common problem that the meds make you hungry all the time? Are there any CAH sufferers who are thin out there?
