JessicaAmber,
I know exactly what you’re going through. My biggest thing was "How do I know if she’s vomiting or just spitting up?? And how do I know if she’s lethargic . . . she’s a newborn!! Newborns sleep a lot, don’t they??" Oh it was so frustrating . . . and after just giving birth too. But it’s lethargic when they’re awake . . . or unable to be woken up that you need to worry about. And some wise father (I can’t even remember his name now) of a CAH child told me this about the vomiting . . . "Take a 1/2 cup of milk & throw it on the floor from about chest level . . . THAT’S vomiting!!" That’s one of the greatest pieces of advice I got regarding that.
Do you have the solu-cortef injection? If not GET IT!! I haven’t had to use it, but it can save your babies life during a crisis!! If your endo doesn’t want to give it to you . . . find a new endo.
And it is CERTAINLY not your fault . . . it’s NOBODY’S fault!! It’s so hard to make yourself believe that . . . but it’s true!! It’s just a genetic defect . . . there is nothing that you could have done to prevent it. The chances that you & your baby’s father both had the recessive gene and that you would get together & BOTH pass it on to her is something like 1:15,000!!! Just the luck of the gene pool!! It’s not like you took something or ate something wrong or anything to cause it.
Keep researching . . . that’s the most important thing. And NO question is stupid . . . NOTHING!! If you don’t understand or have a question you can’t get answered ASK IT!! The people on this page are so supportive & helpful. I thank God every day for the wonderful parents & CAH adults & children you’ll find on this page.
Jess
