Amber,

My daughter is now 4 years olds and doing wonderful. I remember all the worries you are having so well. I remember wondering "How will I know she is sick?" As she was my first what I didn’t realize was they will let you know!!! Children with fevers are not feeling well and cry a lot. Get to know your daughter’s temperature by touch. Then when she has a fever you will know immediately. I used to touch my daughter’s face, both cheeks and forehead everyday, and cheek to cheek. The first time she had a fever I knkow by touch and then could use the thermometer rectally to know what temp for sure. I still can tell just by touch if my daughter is hot. It’s strange, but normally her cheeks are quite cool (unless she has been active) but with a fever her cheeks will be bright red and hot to the touch. Another thing that may help you relax is to feel prepared. Always carry extra cortef, the solucortef, advil/tylenol, thermometer etc. Write out plan of action for different illnesses and injuries with your endo. Make copies and follow them when she is sick/hurt. Also, write down times and meds given when she is sick. Then you don’t have to try to remember when you will already be so tired caring for her. Mostimportantly know that no one would look at my daughter playing with her friends and think there is something wrong with her. She has many friends and is active, smart and well coordinated. She is a joy! Good luck and enjoy your new baby girl! Julia
